I recently stayed at a lovely bed and breakfast in Kaikoura called Kakatu Retreat. I was there for a few days to relax and explore the area. The views from the property are absolutely amazing, and my room was spacious and comfortable. The bed was incredibly big and comfy, ensuring a good night's sleep. One thing that stood out was the warm and welcoming service from Mary, who went out of her way to make sure my stay was enjoyable, especially after my long and difficult drive in the dark. The owners of the property were also very friendly and helpful, providing great recommendations for places to eat and see seals. Additionally, the breakfast options were delicious and the kitchen facilities were excellent. it was a pleasant and cozy stay at Kakatu Retreat.
I can recommend this hotel.

The location was great for us, close to both town and the sea, and we found the rates quite reasonable compared to before the earthquake.

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel! The owners were incredibly friendly and welcoming, giving us a personal tour and recommending activities for our day. They even went above and beyond when my partner fell ill, providing a thermometer and medication late at night. The breakfast options were outstanding, with a wide variety of breads and even eggs if we wanted them. The hotel itself was beautiful, clean, and modern – far better than the pictures online. It's also conveniently located near the town center, making it easy to explore the area. we highly recommend this place for its luxurious comfort and excellent service.
We recommend this hotel to everyone.

The staff were really friendly and welcoming, making us feel at home during our stay. The room was clean and tidy, with everything we needed. The location was great, just a short walk from the picturesque beach. Plus, we got to enjoy a free dolphin show, which was a pleasant surprise.
The shared toilet and shower was quite close to our room, and the thin walls made it easy to hear every noise. The lack of seating in the small room was a bit inconvenient, and the TV placement made it difficult to view.

I had a fantastic time at Kakatu Retreat during my recent stay. The delicious breakfast options exceeded my expectations with a wide variety of breads and even the option for eggs. The pictures online really don't do justice to this beautiful, clean, and modern hotel. The attention to design detail is evident throughout the property, making for a truly pleasant experience. The owner was welcoming and explained everything upon arrival. The location, with the mountains as a backdrop, added to the lovely setting. The well-appointed facilities and comfortable beds made for a restful stay. The availability of laundry facilities was a convenient bonus. one of the best properties I stayed in during my trip. Highly recommended.
Totally recommend this hotel.
